Abstract

1,217,805. Aminoguanidines. BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM G.m.b.H. 7 July, 1969 [9 July, 1968], No. 34186/69. Heading C2C. Novel aminoguanidines of the general formula wherein X is a phenyl radical substituted by one or more halogen atoms, and salts thereof with physiologically compatible acids are prepared (a) by reaction of a hydrazine of the general formula XNHNH 2 with an amidine of the general formula wherein Z is C 1-4 alkoxy, alkylthio, N-pyrazolyl, N-imidazolyl, N-triazolyl, N-tetrazolyl or amino group; (b) when R 1 and R 2 are hydrogen atoms, by reaction of a hydrazine of the second general formula above with cyanamide; and (c) by reaction of an aminoamidine of the general formula with ammonia; followed optionally by salification of the resulting product with a physiologically compatible acid. The novel aminoguanidines are stated to be valuable pharmaceuticals for the regulation of blood pressure, particularly in the treatment of hypertonia.
