Abstract
1,259,568. Aminoguanidines. BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM G.m.b.H. 3 Aug., 1970 [5 Aug., 1969], No. 37342/70. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of Formula (I) (in which R 1 is alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, nitro or haloalkyl, each of R 2 and R 3 is H, halogen, OH, alkyl or alkoxy, and each of R 4 and R 5 is H or C 1-3 alkyl), and pharmacologically compatible acid addition salts, are prepared by (a) reacting a hydrazine of Formula (II) with an isourea of Formula (III) (in which Z is C 1-3 alkoxy, alkylthio, N-pyra - zolyl, N-imidazolyl, N-triazolyl, N-tetrazolyl or amino), or (b) for compounds of Formula (I) in which R 5 is H, reacting a compound of Formula (II) with a cyanamide of formula R 4 -NH-CN, or (c) reacting a compound of Formula (IV) with a compound of formula H 2 N-R 5 , whereafter, if desired, the compounds obtained are converted to pharmacologically compatible acid addition salts. Pharmaceutical compositions useful for the regulation of blood pressure comprise a compound of Formula (I), or a physiologically compatible acid addition salt thereof, together with a pharmaceutical carrier.
