Abstract
1,217,721. Lamps. P. PLANCHON. 3 Jan., 1968 [12 Jan., 1967], No. 521/68. Heading F4R. A reflector for a light source capable of casting an asymmetrical beam as shown in Fig. 3b has the general form shown in Fig. 2 and comprises a plurality of individual concave reflecting surfaces, these surfaces making a continuous join with adjacent surfaces at their upper and lower edges but being displaced from adjacent surfaces along their side edges and joined thereto by stepped portions. Fig. 1 shows a plurality of horizontal sections through the reflector. The front surface 42 of the reflector is generally smooth but the rear surface 39 comprises two symmetrically disposed major stepped portions (only one is shown in Fig. 1a) and between these and also between each of these and the front surface a plurality of minor stepped portions. The reflector is made of metal; Fig. 4 (not shown) illustrates a similar structure made of glass vacuum deposited with a reflecting material.
