1278965 Illuminated shelves F LASSEN and P LASSEN 17 Sept 1969 [19 Sept 1968] 45897/69 Heading A4H [Also in Division F4] A shelf arrangement comprises a plurality of hollow shelves, each shelf being constructed from two superposed sheets 2 of substantially equal width and having a reflector 3 extending along the forward edge of the upper sheet so that light emitted by a source 1 at the rear edge of the shelf passes through the shelf and is reflected on to objects on the shelf beneath. The inner faces of the sheets may have a light reflective coating, and the reflector 3 may be a prism. The source which may be a fluorescent tube or halogen lamp, preferably illuminates two shelves on opposite sides of a support frame.
