A hopper 4 supported on legs 6 is provided with a base 5 the base being provided with a ring outlet 8 which discharges into boot 11, and the boot has opening 13 covered by lid 14 through which opening material is withdrawn. The outlet 8 co-operates freely with hole 10 formed in boot 11 so that the bottom of the hopper may descend under the weight of material and thus avoid stress.
