Abstract

1,217,390. Recovery of boric acid. MONSANTO CO. 24 June, 1968 [10 July, 1967], No. 30011/68. Heading C1A. [Also in Division C2] The water content of at least a portion of the residual liquid produced by hydrolysing a borate ester containing mixture and separating oxidized hydrocarbon and boric acid therefrom is reduced such that the portion does not contain more than about 25% by weight of carbon, and boric acid is recovered therefrom. The water content may be reduced by evaporation, preferably under reduced pressure, to not more than about 60%. The boric acid may be recovered by crystallization and washed in water or aqueous boric acid.
