[Also in Division G2] A relief image is formed by writing on the surface of a proteinaceous layer with a proteolytic enzyme and then etching away the gelatine surface in the enzyme areas with water or writing on a proteinaceous layer containing a proteolytic enzyme with a laser or electron beam or electric discharge so as to imagewise destroy the enzyme and etching away the gelatine in the non-exposed areas with water.
