Abstract

1291430 Phase holograms MARCONI CO Ltd 17 Sept 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 59413/70 Heading G2J In producing a phase hologram an amplitude hologram 4 formed in a photographic emulsion is placed adjacent a layer of photo-resist material 7 on a substrate 8, e.g. a glass plate, and illuminated from the side opposite that adjacent the photo-resist by monochromatic light, the photo-resist being developed and etched. Preferably the hologram 4 and photo-resist 7 are in contact. The photo-resist material may be dichromated gelatine. The monochromatic light is of wavelength 4358A and is derived from a mercury vapour lamp 9 filtered at 10.
