Abstract
1,217,066. Coin detection. TATEISI ELECTRONICS CO. 30 April, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 20480/68. Heading G4V. A coin detection system comprising a coin detection switch 2, a vending solenoid actuated from the switch 2 and means to remove the input signal from the vending solenoid when switch 2 produces a signal for more than a predetermined time. On insertion of a coin, proximity switch 2, Fig. 1, passes a signal through differentiating circuit 3 to set flip-flop 6, causing it to actuate vending solenoid 4 and timing device 7, which resets the flip-flop after a period of time. A second timer 8 is set by the signal from switch 2 and this sets off a buzzer if the signal continues for more than a predetermined time. Differentiating circuit 3 can be replaced by an INHIBIT element receiving an inhibit input from the timer (8), Fig. 3 (not shown), or by two NOT circuits 11, 12, Fig. 5, together with an AND element between the flip-flop 6 and the solenoid 4, receiving its second input signal from the output of the first NOT element. Alternatively, the differentiating circuit can be eliminated and an INHIBIT element placed between the flip-flop and the solenoid, receiving its inhibit input from the switch (2), Fig. 6 (not shown). Fig. 2 shows an embodiment designed to be actuated by a plurality of coins, the output from differential circuit 3 being applied to a counter 16 activating the vend solenoid at a predetermined number of pulses. A modification is to replace the differentiating circuit with an INHIBIT element receiving its inhibit signal from the timer 8.
