Abstract

1,217,025. Masts. SPARLIGHT Ltd. 21 Aug., 1969 [30 Aug., 1968], No. 41512/68. Heading B7V. A mast 2 for a sailing vessel comprises a stationary, hollow supporting element 14 push fitted into and extending through apertures formed in the mast at the mast head, fore 16, and aft 18 ends of the element projecting from fore-and-aft sides respectively of the mast. A cap 26 on the mast head holds element 14 in position and openings are provided in the ends and underside of the element to give access to its interior. Sheaves 38, 40 are provided in the interior of the element for one or more halyards and the element has apertures in its side walls to receive pins such as 68, 82 for securing pulleys, ropes and rope guides to the element externally of the mast.
