Abstract

1,216,643. Winding yarn on to cardboard strip. MOULINAGE ET RETORDERIE DE CHAVANOZ. 17 Jan., 1969 [19 Jan., 1968], No. 2882/69. Heading B8G. [Also in Division D1] Yarn is wound continuously on to a substantially rigid support tape using apparatus comprising means A for feeding the tape in jerks, a winding device B which is reciprocated longitudinally to distribute the yarn upon a portion of the tape, and means C for withdrawing the tape. The tape, which may be a strip of card 11 is fed by a roller 2 which is advanced intermittently by electromagnets 8, and held in position by a locking rod 7. Winding device B which may comprise one or two bobbins of yarn, is rotated by a motor 32 and reciprocated by a motor-driven cam 36. The yarn is wound around the card and a rod 40 as the card emerges from a sheath 39, its tension being relieved as it is moved off the end of the rod. Motor-driven rollers 12 and 13 withdraw the card and apply a strip of adhesive tape 17 to locate the yarn. Sampling cards, each holding a winding of, yarn are finally cut off by a knife 21. All the operations are synchronized to produce identical cards.
