Abstract
1,216,578. Movable magnetic switches. ETHER Ltd. 23 May, 1969 [10 July, 1968], No. 32964/68. Heading H1N. A selector switch has reed contact units 6, 6a, 7, 7a, 8, 8a &c. arranged for operation by a magnet 28 coupled to a shaft 21 by a pin 24 in slots 25 allowing the magnet to be held attracted to a pair (such as 6, 6a) of contact units until the pin is engaged in the end of the slot as the shaft is rotated and then when the magnet is forced away from the contact units it will reach a point where it is attracted to the next pair of contact units and snaps into line with this next pair of units. Flux guide plates 13, 13a, 14, 14a &c. concentrate the flux in the contact areas of the contact units and have reduced section extensions passing through and second to insulating plates 4, 5 which also support the contact units. The magnet 28 is mounted on a body 23 which also carries a balance weight 29 to provide dynamic balance.
