Abstract

Centrifugal speed indicators with signalling-apparatus; particular-speed alarms.-A spring-controlled sliding member is urged outwards, so as to strike a gong or to come into contact with a spring tongue and give an intermittent lamp or other signal electrically when the tramway or other vehicle upon which the device is mounted attains a predetermined speed. A two-part collar B, Fig. 3, clamped to the rotating shaft by bolts B', is formed with guide-flanges to receive the weight C, the bolt b of which is adapted to slide in slots c. Springs e secured to bolts D connect the weight C with lugs B<3> on the collar, adjustment being effected by square-section locknuts D<1>. The gong F is mounted on a bracket on the collar B. The electric contact is formed by a spring tongue H, Fig. 10, assembled in a bracket H<1> and connected to a lead H<2> in circuit with a lamp, bell, or other signal.
