Abstract

17,179. Blake, E. M., and Tipler, W. July 5, [Convention date]. Road-vehicle signals.-A device for indicating when a vehicle is about to turn comprises a rod &c. 3 carrying at its end a hand, disk, &c. 6 adapted to be extended out of a tubular casing 1. The rod 3 may be spring-actuated, either directly or through the medium of rack and gear-wheel, or by a Bowden wire &c. An electric lamp 7 at the end of the rod serves to illuminate the hand &c. 6, the contacts 14, 16 engaging when the hand is projected. A switch 18 may be provided for disconnecting the source of current, which may be a battery 9, in the daytime. One such device is placed on each side of the vehicle.
