A foodstuff for young animals, which may replace milk, comprises defatted fish protein having a particle size below 420 microns, preferably in an amount up to 55 wt. per cent. the remainder of the food comprising animal fat, lactose, for example as whey, glucose, vitamins, and mineral salts. The food may be in suspension in a liquid, for example water.
