Abstract

1,216,051. Electro-plating. NAPHTACHIMIE. Feb.18, 1969[Feb.19, 1968], No.8726/69. Heading C7B. [Also in Division C3] Examples 8-9 are directed to the metal plating of 3 mm. thick and 25 mm. wide plates composed of isotactic polyphopylene composition containing 10 or 40% mica, 0À40% of the tetraester of 3- (3, 5- ditertiary butyl - 4- hyroxy phenol) - propionic acid and pentaerythritol, and 0À40% of dilauryl thiodipropionate. The plates are degreased with sodium hydroxide, neutralized with sodium bisulphite, attacked by a heated mixture of sulphuric acid and chromic acid, sensitized with stannous chloride and activated with palladium chloride. A nickel base layer is then formed on the plates by immersing them in a specified nickel chloride solution, nickel is deposited on this base layer by electrolysis from a nickel sulphate/nickel chloride bath, and, finally, a shiny copper or nickel plating 100 microns thick is obtained by further electrolysis from a copper sulphate or nickel sulphate bath.
