Abstract

1,215,963. Cartons for liquids. EX-CELL-O CORP. 12 Sept., 1968 [17 Oct., 1967], No. 43349/68. Heading B8P. A gable-top carton for liquids has a pouring lip above which, when retracted, a leakage channel (65), Fig. 3 (not shown), can form, when, e.g., heavy gauge paper board is used for the carton, but is blocked by projections 66, 67 on the edge 49 of the pouring lip. The carton blank, Fig. 5, is coated on both surfaces with thermoplastics material which is heated to seal the ends when they are formed, sealing resistant material, e.g. of the organosiloxane type, being placed at 70, 71, 72. Projections 92, 73 on a flap 42 and 75, 74 on a flap 41 also block the channel (65), while projections 76-80 on the side seam flap 38 further serve to prevent the passage of liquids in the upper gable and in a channel formed along the side seam.
