Abstract
1,215,527. Parallel bar apparatus. R. G. WIELAND. 25 March, 1968 [22 May, 1967], No. 14324/68. Heading A6M. A parallel bar apparatus comprises a platform, a pair of parallel bars 30 and 31, telescoping vertical columns 24, 24', 25, and 25' supporting said bars and acting to raise and lower them, telescoping horizontal members, e.g. 28 and 32, mounted on said telescoping vertical columns acting to move the parallel bars toward or away from each other, and motor means powering the movement of said telescoping vertical columns and horizontal members. Motor 60 drives chain 59 via gears 61 and 62, which chain drives gears 55 to 58 which raise all four telescoping vertical columns simultaneously via a screw mechanism in said columns. Motor 67 drives, via gears 68 and 69, the chain 63, which via gears 39 to 42, and with the assistance of idlers 64, 64' and 65, 65', drives the vertical members 35, 35' and 36, 36' respectively in opposite senses of rotation, which in turn, via a rack-andpinion device causes the parallel bars to move toward or away from each other.
