Abstract

Heading B6.P In a reservoir pen with a piston 2 movable in the barrel 3 for filling the pen, means are provided for indicating when a filling stroke of the piston is nearly completed, so that if the pen is now withdrawn from the ink supply device and the piston moved to its fully-retracted position, ink in the feeding and overflow channels will be drawn into the reservoir, thus avoiding flooding. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, wherein rotation of a knob 4 reciprocates the piston-rod 1 in a guide member 6 by means of screw mechanisms 5, the end of the member 6 is slotted to form resilient tongues 9 which engage a groove 7 in the pistonrod 1 when the piston 2 is near the end of its filling stroke, thus requiring a greater force to be exerted to continue the stroke and so indicating the position of the piston. Other similar detent arrangements are described causing a change in the force required to move the piston when the latter is nearing the end of its filling stroke.
