Abstract

1,214,327. Sun visors and rear view mirrors. WINDSHIELDS OF WORCESTER Ltd. 13 Aug.; 1968 [31 Oct., 1967], No. 49334/67. Heading B7J. A sun visor comprises a pair of moulded plastics elements 10 and 11 each of elongate dish form and having a series of longitudinally apertured spaced lugs 24 mounted on one peripheral portion and upstanding from the surface of the element, the remaining peripheral portion of each element having a rim 16, the rims and lugs being so arranged that the lugs of the elements interdigitate and the rims interengage by tongues and grooves 18, 19 to define a cavity 21 between the elements; the longitudinal apertures 27 in the lugs 24 providing bearings for a mounting arm 28. The tongue 18 and the groove 19 extend only over half of each element, the halves of each element being complementary about a transverse centre line 17. Each element is also provided with extensions 20, those on one half having balls 22 thereon, whilst those on the other half have recesses 23, whereby the two elements are secured together by snap connections. The apertures 27 are formed during moulding so as to have their longitudinal axes offset slightly from one another, so that, when the elements are assembled together, the lugs bear resiliently upon the arm. A mirror 12 is provided adjacent an aperture 13 in the element 10 and the edges of the mirror engage in slots 14 in extensions 15b on the element 10. The extensions 15b interengage by balls and recesses with similar extensions 15a on the element 11.
