Abstract

1,245,677. Sun visors. BRITISH MOTOR CORP. Ltd. 4 May, 1970 [16 May, 1969], No. 25057/69. Heading B7J. [Also in Division E2] An adjustable interior sun visor for a motor vehicle comprises a substantially rectangular foamed plastics moulding 1 which is supported solely at one edge zone 5 by pivotal mounting means including a plastics hinge member 2 having a pair of relatively movable jaws 3, 4, Fig. 2, or 3A, 4A, Fig. 3, which receive between them, and interlock to grip, the edge zone 5 of the moulding. The jaws have interlocking projections 10, 11, Fig. 2, or 13, 14, Fig. 3, and also V-sectioned ridges 15 to grip the edge zone of the moulding. The hinge member has an aperture 6 for receiving a rod 7 which is supported between end mountings (8) secured to the upper boundary (9) of the vehicle windscreen. The arrangement is such that the hinge member may be frictionally held on the rod in any desired setting. The whole assembly is covered by an enveloping P.V.C. skin 16.
