Abstract

1,214,309. Centrifugal separator. CSEPEL AUTOGYAR. 8 Dec., 1967 [12 Dec., 1966], No. 55977/67. Heading B2P. A dry-operated dust precipitator for connection to an air-breathing machine comprises a cyclone casing 2 having a bladed ring 1 at its inlet for imparting a whirl to incoming dustladen air, a clean air outlet conduit 10 at the entry of which is provided a bladed deflector 7 of cruciform-cross section, and a dust extraction element 3 of truncated pyramidal form for directing the dust through an opening in the casing wall, one side T of the element 3 being extended to form a guide plate 4 which guides the dust towards the discharge element 3. The conduit 10 is connected to a conduit (shown in chain-dotted line) of the air machine by means of a clip 12, a metal ring 8 and a seal 9 providing an air-tight connection. The cyclone casing 2 is closed at its upper end by means of a cover plate 14 within which is mounted a perforated plate 13 acting as a coarse filter. The dust outlet opening at the base of the cyclone casing is in communication with a dust chamber 5 to which is sealingly connected a dust collector 6. The dust is separated from the air primarily by centrifugal action resulting from the whirl imparted by the bladed ring 1 and is discharged from the bottom of the cyclone casing 2 by means of the element 3. Any dust remaining in the air is precipitated in the casing 2 as the air flows through the deflector 7 which has the effect of decelerating the air flow. Relative dimensions of the various parts of the precipitator are given.
