Abstract
121,428. Kemp, H. R. May 23, 1918. Folding crates &c. - A packing-case or crate comprises parts connected together by strengthening-cords i, i<1>, j, j<1>, which are held in place by staples k. When the crate is erected about the bottom a, dovetail tongues f on the edges of the end members enter corresponding recesses g in the side members, and pins h are inserted through holes h<1> into the ends of the side members. External battens e are fixed to the various crate members, and those on the side members, are extended for the bottom a and lid d to fit between them. The cords j, j<1> are passed through loops or eyes l on the cords i, i<1> and are secured together; the parts j, j<1> may constitute a single cord. In place of cords, wire strands may be used; or hoop-iron bands may be used, the ends of which are connected together by bending them round the sides of a metal link or eye. When the crate is collapsed, the parts can lie against one another.
