Abstract

1,214,017. Containers with controlled discharge; load handling pallets. ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd. 3 June, 1969 [4 June, 1968], No. 26536/68. Headings B8H and B8P. A container for flowable substances (Fig. 5) comprises a stiff outer box 26, a funnel 35, centralized in the outer box by a continuous ring formed at the top of the funnel, and a flexible inner bag 29, for example plastics, the lower part of which, 36, is located in the funnel for end discharge either by gravity, through an opening 31 in the outer box, as shown, or by a suction pipe (37), Fig. 4 (not shown), inserted through the top end. The funnel 35, Fig. 3, is constructed from one or more blanks, Fig. 1 (no shown), folded so that pairs of adjacent triangular panels (12) form radial ribs 21 to support the funnel on a bottom closure 28 of the box, and the panels (11) form the frustopyramidal shape of the funnel. Vertical panels 19 locate the funnel inside the outer box 26 and may extend to the bottom of the funnel to further support the funnel within the outer box (not shown). The funnel 35 is held in shape by a tie-line 16. As shown, the funnel 35 rests on the bottom closure 28 of the outer box 26; alternatively, the funnel forms the lower part of the outer box, Fig. 7 (not shown). The funnel 35 may be in the form of a framework. The container may be carried on an open deck pallet (25), Fig. 4 (not shown). The funnel may be of corrugated fibreboard or of plastics. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,155,794.
