Abstract

1,213,998. N,N<SP>1</SP>-alkylene-bis-dibenzo-bicyclooctano-pyrrolidines. SHIONOGI & CO. Ltd. 16 Nov., 1967, No. 52215/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of Formula I in which R is a straight or branched C 2-6 alkylene radical and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts are prepared by reacting dibenzobicyclo(2,2,2,)-octane-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride with an alkylene diamine containing 2-6 carbon atoms and reducing the resulting N,N<SP>1</SP> - alkylene - bis[dibenzobicyclo- (2,2,2) octane-2-3-dicarboimide] with a complex metal hydride e.g. LiAlH 4 , followed if desired by salt formation. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise one of the novel compounds together with a suitable excipient and may be administered orally or parenterally. Such compositions are useful as musculotropic antispasmodics.
