Abstract

1,213,957. Waistbands. QUICK SERVICE TEXTILES Inc. 20 Aug., 1969 [25 April, 1969], No. 41495/69. Heading A3V. [Also in Division B5] A garment waistband assembly comprises a shell waist band 10 inwardly folded to form a bight 15 and a textile fabric stiffening strip 18 with one edge of the strip positioned within the fold adjacent the bight, at least the whole length of the said one edge being covered with a continuous bead 31. The strip 18 is preferably made from a nylon monofilament weft 21 and a cotton thread warp and is heat moulded to have an inwardly concave transverse cross-section; it can be cut from yarn goods or woven with a selvage and in order to prevent the raw edges of the weft or the return bights at the selvage from causing abrasion of the adjacent fabric one or both edges of the strip are provided with the protective plastics continuous bead 31 which is extruded on to the strip after it has moved through the moulding machine.
