Abstract

1,213,937. Fluid-pressure brakes. SOC. ANON. D.B.A. 7 Feb., 1969 [16 Feb., 1968], No. 6618/69. Heading F2F. An automatic wear adjuster and hydraulic actuator assembly for a drum brake comprises a ring 28 having a plurality of tabs non-rotatably mounted on one actuator member 12 with axial clearance between two spaced stops on the member, the tabs engaging surfaces of a second actuator member 14 separated by grooves at least as wide as the tabs which are inclined so that they only slightly oppose movement outwardly between the ring and the second member but strongly oppose movement in the reverse direction. A member 14 is part of an hydraulic piston 10 having an end portion 16 and an annular groove (22), Fig. 3 (not shown). The adjuster is reset by rotating the member 14 until the tabs extend into but do not engage its grooves. In another embodiment the ring is carried on the member 14.
