Abstract

1,213,517. Track circuit. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 16 April, 1968 [24 April, 1967], No. 17761/68. Heading B7N. In an A.C. track circuit arrangement for continuous rail track in which the ends of the circuit are defined by short circuits across the track, the impedance of the track loop 26, 8, 28 between the circuit detector position and the end of the circuit is increased by connecting a capacitor 16 and inductance 14 in series across the track at the detector position with the inductance coupled to the rail portions 26, 28 of the loop and the capacitor 16 having a value which resonates with the inductance 14 and the loop inductance at the frequency of the track circuit supply. The detector 22 is connected across the capacitor and the inductance 14 can be a U-shaped bar secured to but insulated from the rail portions of the loop. The arrangement allows the length of the loop to be reduced and hence obviates a dead zone at the end of the circuit.
