Abstract

1411440 Smoothing pulsating currents A R BAILEY 16 Nov 1973 [16 Nov 1972] 53036/72 Heading H2F [Also in Division H3] In a control system for a D.C. traction motor, a filter is included between the D.C. supply and the chopper 15 and comprises at least one series resonant circuit 16, 17, tuned to the chopping frequency, across the chopper input and a high impedance 31 in series with the D.C. supply. The invention minimizes interference with signalling circuits such as railway track circuits. Other series circuits 18, 19; 20, 21 may be tuned to harmonics of the chopping frequency. Other interfering frequencies may be blocked by parallel circuits 33, 34 or 28, 29. A damping resistor in series with a blocking capacitor may be connected across capacitor 22 or 32.
