Abstract

1,213,207. Soil treatment. P. J. HIPWELL. 18 June, 1969 [2 July, 1968], No. 31569/68. Heading A1B. Apparatus for treating soil comprises at least one barrel-shaped rotor 7 having radially extending spikes or blades 7A which as shown is driven by a belt 11 connected to the wheel 8, and supported ahead of each rotor on a frame 13 with a ground wheel 14 a spray 15 for liquid or solid material whose height can be adjusted. The peripheral speeds of wheel and rotor are arranged to be different to ensure even mixing by the blades 7A of the sprayec material to the required depth. A skid 17 (not shown) adjustable in height, may be provided to prevent the roller from sinking into soft ground. The roller and spray assembly, singly or ganged, can be raised above the ground on the beam frame 2 by means of the hydraulic ram 3.
