Abstract

1,213,054. Textile collagen prosthesis. VYZKUMNY USTAV PLETARSKY. 8 May, 1968 [19 May, 1967], No. 21686/68. Heading A5R. [Also in Division B2] A textile collagen prosthesis comprises a synthetic fibre textile skeleton impregnated and/or coated with collagen, and a locally efficient bactericide agent incorporated in the collagen to prevent the prosthesis from being infected during the growing-in or healing period. The bactericide is suitably an antibotic of the neomycin or bacitracin type or a phagolysate (e.g. for stphylococci or streptococci). The textile skeleton may be composed of polyester or polytetrafluoroethylene fibre. The prosthesis is suitable as a substitute for tubular organs, e.g. a blood vessel prosthesis, in which case the inner surface of the prosthesis is preferably treated with heparin.
