Abstract

Process for making prosthetic vessels of high biological permeability, where a permeable synthetic skeleton (or frame), is associated with collagen and heparin, the process is characterized in that the collagen is dissolved in an aqueous weak organic acid and the heparin is added to the collagen solution, then the permeable synthetic skeleton is filled under pressure with the filamentous mass obtained, eliminating the excess mass and dehydrating the remaining part. Chondroitin sulphate may also be added in addition to the heparin. These prosthetic vessels can replace segments of various lengths of large and small arteries and veins.
