In a process for lining a tunnel using concrete mix inserted around a tunnel shell 7, the mix is subjected to a first compaction by jacks 5 as tunnel shield 1 and cutting head 2 advances, and to a second (higher) compaction by the jacks after the cutting action of the head has been halted.
