A graft polymer is obtained by reacting an oxyalkylene polymer (including aldehyde, cyclic ether or glycol polymers) with a polymer having acid ester, acid anhydride, alcohol ester, acetal or alcohol groups in the side chain, in an organic liquid, in the presence of a Lewis acid and with heating, suitably under agitation. In the examples, polymethyl (meth)acrylate or an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer is reacted with a trioxan copolymer, or a polyethylene glycol in the presence of nitrobenzene solvent and BF 3 . (C 2 H 5 ) 2 O catalyst.
