Abstract
1,212,700. Mechanical switches. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 29 Dec., 1967 [31 Dec., 1966], No. 59014/67. Heading H1N. A manual lever 16, an insulating body 23 mounted therein and a U-shaped member 15 can be pivoted about an axis 17 from a central neutral position in both directions to operate the direction indicator lights (32, Fig. 3), insulated parts 34 on member 15 abutting projections 33 on contact springs 28a (28c) to bring them into engagement with contact springs (29a, 29c, Fig. 2). In each of these three positions lever 16 and body 23 can be pivoted about an axis 24. Tilting upwardly from the Fig. 1 position allows a contact spring 38 to change over from a contact spring 29e to a contact spring 29d, thus switching the headlights from main beam to dipped beam, this occurring because a lug 42 on body 23 no longer depresses a pin 40 on spring 38. Detent mechanism comprising a spring-loaded ball 25 and six recesses 27a, 27b defines these stable positions. Lever 16 can be further tilted upwardly about 24 to an unstable position in which a lug 37 on body 23 abuts a projection 36 on a contact spring 286, thus bringing it into engagement with a contact spring (296) to flash the main beam. Contact springs 28a (-28c), (29a)-29e and 38 are mounted on an insulating plate 13 by connectors 43 for the connection of wires 43<SP>1</SP>. Contact springs (44 to 47, Fig. 8) are inserted in slots (48) in body 23, and their ends form eyelets (50) to which are soldered cables (51). On displacing a button 20, a handle 19 and a flexible rod 55 relative to lever 16 against a spring 59, a cam surface (56) on the end of rod 55 engages between the inner contact springs 45, 46 and causes contact spring 45 to engage contact spring 44 and actuate a horn (60). On further relative displacement against a spring 58, a cam surface 57 operates contact springs 46, 47 to actuate a horn 62.
