[Also in Division H1] The dielectric an electrical motor or generator with conductors operated below 60‹ K is a fluid at room temperatures but solid at the operating temperature. Argon and/or nitrogen may be used as the dielectric, and mechanical supports of compatible material such as plastics or ceramics space the conductors when the dielectric is fluid. The dielectric may be introduced as a gas and solidified by a fluid helium cooling sytem.
