Abstract

1,211,357. Cathode-ray tube displays. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. 6 Nov., 1967 [7 Nov., 1966], No. 50385/67. Heading H4T. A graticule 17 (Figs. 1 and 3), against which the traces on the screen of a cathode-ray display tube 10 are compared, is formed as a pattern of fluorescent material 22 in a transparent support means 18 so that when the latter is irradiated by a suitable source 27 a visible graticule is produced. A filter 33 is interposed between the tube screen 16 and the graticule 17 to prevent activation of the latter by light from the screen and activation of the screen 16 by radiation from the source 27. The composite display of the traces and the graticule (Fig. 2) may be photographed by camera means 46, 47. The cathode-ray tube may be replaced by other beam producing means such as a proton-gun, a laser beam, an ion beam or an ultraviolet photon energy beam, the energy produced by which is converted into visible light by causing it to excite a sheet of fluorescent material in front of which the graticule and filter arrangement is positioned (Fig. 5, not shown). The apparatus provided by the invention can be used for recording bio-medical instrumentation data displays, such as electrocardiographic signals on the screens of one or more display tubes (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown).
