1,211,312. Magnesia-chromia brick. DRESSER INDUSTRES Inc. 15 May, 1969 [17 June, 1968], No. 24845/69. Heading C1J. A refractory brick comprises magnesite and chrome ore in a ratio between 90 : 10 and 60 : 40, less than 0À08 wt. per cent B 2 O 3 and a total of 2; to 10 wt. per cent of CaO + SiO 2 + P 2 O 5 in weight ratios falling within the area ABODE so that a calcium silicophosphate bond is formed on burning and the brick has a modulus of rupture at 2600‹ F. of above 500 p.s.i. A batch of size-graded dead burned magnesite, -14 + 150 Tyler mesh chrome ore, - 65 mesh limeyielding material and - 65 mesh phosphateyielding material, is tempered with 5% lignin liquor, pressed into brick at 10,000 p.s.i., dried at 250‹ F. and burned at 2800‹ F. The phosphate-yielding materials listed are calcium, magnesium, and ammonium phosphates and phosphoric acids. Suitable lime-yielding materials are calcium carbonate, ferrite, aluminate and chromite. Chrome iron ore can be used and provides the brick with up to 6% Fe 2 O 3 .
