1506656 Magnesia-chrome ore refractory shapes GENERAL REFRACTORIES CO 29 Dec 1975 52979/75 Heading C1J A high-fired direct-bonded basic magnesitechrome refractory shape, characterized by the presence of chromium-enriched spinel structures distributed in the matrix, which structures bond the individual periclase crystals, is made by the steps of (a) forming a mixture of 40-75 wt. per cent of periclase containing at least 94% MgO, 25-60 wt. per cent chrome ore, and 0À5-10 wt. per cent chromic oxide powder; (b) pressing the mixture into a refractory shape, and (c) firing the refractory shape to a temperature of at least 1700‹ C. In examples, a binder (lignosulphonate with water) was also used.
