Abstract

1,210,531. 531. Time control of electric circuits. LEGG (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Feb. 19, 1968 [Feb. 20, 1967; Sept. 21, 1967], No. 8061/67 and 43118/67. Heading G3T. [Also in Division H2] A battery-charging system includes means which respond to a battery voltage greater than a pre-set value in order to start a timer which is arranged to interrupt the charging circuit. Means is also provided for automatically returning the timer to its initial position when the battery is disconnected from the charging terminals of the system. In the circuit shown, the timer 40 comprises a self-starting synchronous A. C. motor 41 which drives a contact actuating arm 42 through an electromagnetic clutch 43. The clutch is energized through a winding 44. Contacts 46 are normally closed, but are opened by the arm 42 after a pre-set time in order to terminate the charge. The arm 42 is spring-loaded 45 and returns to its initial position when the clutch 43 is de-energized.
