Abstract

1,210,093. Clothes prop. J. E. ELTHERINGTON & SON (ALUMINIUM) Ltd. 18 Oct., 1968 [28 July, 1967], No. 34695/67. Heading A4U. An adjustable clothes prop comprises a D-section aluminium tube 10 having a C-shaped line-engaging hook 20 and telescoping into an aluminium tube 12 of the same section, the tube 10 having an aperture 24 through which a peg 26 is urged by a spring 30 for selective engagement in one of a series of apertures 22 in the tube 12 to secure the prop in adjusted position. The hook 20, of rigid nylon, has a shank 18 in threaded engagement with a lipped D-shaped boss 16 pushed into the end of the tube 10 and secured by deformation of the tube at 34. The tube 10 is preferably anodised and the tube 12 coated with polyvinyl chloride and provided with a rubber or plastics shoe 14.
