Abstract

1,209,761. Attaching connectors to conductors; making electrical connectors. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 18 March, 1968 [28 March, 1967], No. 14062/67. Headings B3A and B3Q. [Also in Division H2] In a machine for stripping the insulation from a cable and crimping a connector on the exposed conductor, after the insulation has been stripped off (see Division H2), a connector 57, part of a strip 55 of such connectors fed from a roll 56, is crimped around the conductor 59 by a hammer 45 attached to slide 42 moving down to an anvil 44, under action of a ram (49) via toggle linkages 46, the hammer 45 engaging conductor 59 in slot 61 on its downward travel and carrying it and its gripping mechanism 15 down against the action of springs 16 to anvil 44 for crimping to occur. The strip 55 is fed into the machine by means of a finger 53 attached to slide 42 via mounting 52.
