Abstract
1,209,686. Centrifugal separator. PAPCEL STROJIRNY PRO PRUMYSL CELULOSY A PAPIRU NARODNI PODNIK. 13 Aug., 1968 [22 Sept., 1967], No. 38671/68. Heading B2P. A vortical cleaner for paper-making stock comprises a casing having a lower frustoconical part 1, an intermediate cylindrical part 2 and an upper frusto-conical part 3, a tangential inlet 4 for the stock to be cleaned, a rotor of which the hub 7 has in its bottom face 9 a recess 10 in the shape of a surface of revolution, a rejects removing chamber 16, and an accepts removing vertical tube 14 coaxial with the rotor and having its inlet opening 15 positioned under the bottom face 9 of the rotor hub. The hub peripheral surface may consist of two frusto-conical surfaces joined at their smaller bases, as shown, and a lower cylindrical surface 8. Instead of the double frustoconical shape, the upper hub portion may have a single paraboloidal surface. The recess 10 may be ring-shaped, as shown, or spherical. The upper part of each vane 11 of the rotor is of helical shape, the lead angle of the vane increasing downwards so that the vane at its lower part is substantially radial. Alternatively, the lower part of the vane may be oblique. The outer edges 12 of the vanes lies in a frustoconical surface 13, Fig. 2. The chamber 16 has a wash-water inlet 22 and communicates through a valve 18 with a collection chamber 19 provided with a valve 20 and a wash-water inlet 21. The shape of the rotor hub and of its vanes prevents the stream of whirling stock flowing upward to the face 5 of the upper part 3 of the cleaner and the recess 10 in the bottom face 9 of the hub prevents the upward vortexing clean stock from coming into contact with the downward vortexing impure stock and facilitates its discharge through the tube 14.
