Abstract
1,209,091. Electroluminescence. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 11 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1714/68. Heading C4S. [Also in Division H2] Connection to a transparent layer electrode 12 of an electroluminescent panel 10 is made by a terminal, e.g. stud 19, inserted into a depression 16 formed in a non-conducting phosphor layer 13 and electrode 12 by circularly sand blasting to expose a portion of a non-conducting transparent substrate 11 in which a hole 18 is drilled and tapped, terminal stud 19 extending into the hole 18, and a body of conductive cement or paste 20, e.g. silver frit in a hardenable resin base, is deposited in depression 16 providing a low resistance contact between exposed annular region 17 of electrode 12 and the terminal stud 19. Washer 21 retains the silver paste in depression 16 and with the nut 22 securely clamps the structure. Terminal 19 may pass through substrate 11. A back electrode 14 is provided over phosphor layer 13.
