Abstract

1,208,600. Reactor pressure vessels. ETUDES DE GENIE CIVIL ET DE TECHNIQUES INDUSTRIELLES. 17 Nov., 1967 [18 Nov., 1966], No. 52489/67. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor pressure vessel, an external concrete shell and an internal steel container are both formed of interengaging components which are held together by tendons passing through the concrete. The steel container is built from rings 8 and 12 and caps 7, interlocking at the joints 15, 16 which are sealed. The concrete wall 17, is formed by blocks 13 separated by joints 18 incorporating step 18a. Vertical tendons 23 are secured at shoulders 21 while the lower shoulder 22 rests on the support 27. The domed ends are prestressed by tendons 24, 25 anchored at 34 while horizontal prestressing is effected by tendons 28, anchored to vertical external ribs on the concrete wall, and disposed along helices.
