Abstract

1,207,995. Treatment of waste material. J. BURTON. 19 Oct., 1967, No. 47582/67. Heading C1C. Waste material comprising fine particulate material and water, e.g. mine " tailings ", is treated by mixing with a dehydrated vegetable material capable of absorbing at least its own volume of water in an amount sufficient to convert the waste into a substantially solid form. The vegetable material is preferably sugar beet pulp. Accelerators may be added, e.g. lime or MgSO 4 .
