Abstract

Process for making concentrates for vegetable or animal materials comprises (a) sepg. the comminuted material into (1) a low viscosity liq. fraction contg. virtually no dissolved cells and (2) a solid material fraction; (b) evaporating liquid at least from the liq. fraction and (c) mixing the opt. dried solid fraction with the conc. liq. fraction Process is faster and uses less energy than prior processes so that less heat damage occurs to the prod. and treatment costs are lowered. Process is esp. useful for making tomato concentrates and powder.
