Abstract

1,207,829. Printing apparatus. YAWATA IRON & STEEL CO. Ltd. 29 Dec., 1967 [31 Dec., 1966], No. 58974/67. Heading B6C. A rotary printing machine comprises a printing cylinder 21 formed integrally and coaxially with the drum d of a one-revolution clutch and the drum e of a braking device, the clutch and the brake being controlled automatically by signals provided by means detecting the presence of a sheet to be printed. The brake is normally on, and when a photo-electric device detects either the front or the rear, according to the circuitry, of a sheet, a pulse signal actuates a magnetic valve so that air is supplied through a conduit 32 to operate the clutch and rotate the cylinder and air pressure is relieved in a conduit 32<SP>1</SP> so that the brake is released. During one revolution of the cylinder the printing surface 22 is inked by a roller 29 and prints the sheet which has been detected and on completion of the revolution a limit switch 34 is actuated which causes the release of the clutch and the application of the brake. The sheet is guided during printing by roller surfaces 23, 25. Inking apparatus.-An inking roller (38) (Fig. 2, (not shown) is mounted on a driving shaft (36) and drives via gear wheels (37), 39, the inking roller 29. Blades (43), (44) smooth the inked surfaces of the rollers 29, (38).
