1,207,465. 465. Vapour power plant. W. L. MINTO. July 4, 1968 [July 6, 1967J, No.31875/68. Headings F1Q and F1T. A prime mover system comprises a gaseous fluid driven engine 18, a boiler 11 containing a drive medium having a latent heat of vaporization of less than 100 gram calories per gram and a boiling point less than 95 ‹C. at atmospheric pressure, a superheater 15, a condenser 20, exposed to a cooling medium and connected to the outlet of the engine for liquefying the outlet gases from the engine, the drive medium being non-flammable and having a critical temperature higher than the temperature of the cooling medium, means 22 for injecting liquid drive medium from the condenser into the boiler and means including an adjustable power or speed control throttle 17 valve connecting the outlet of the superheater to the inlet of the engine. The engine may be a turbine or a reciprocating engine. A number of halogenated hydrocarbons suitable for the working fluid are specified.
