Abstract

1,207,395. Two-part couplings. BUNKER. RAMO CORP. 6 Oct., 1967 [6 Oct., 1966], No. 45887/67. Heading H2E. A filtered multi-contact connector comprises pin contacts 40 each having a narrow central portion 90 surrounded by ferrite ferrules 104 butted end to end, these in turn being surrounded by a tubular capacitor consisting of ceramic sleeve 106 with two spaced-apart inner electrodes 32, 34 and a single outer electrode 36 in contact with tines 86 round a hole in earthed plate 46. The latter is sandwiched between two thicker plates 48 preferably of the same metal, e.g. beryllium copper, and the sandwich is held between two insulating blocks 42, 44 with through bores aligned with the holes in the earthed plate to accommodate the pins. The assembly is housed in casings 50, 52 surrounding blocks 42, 44 and bolted together at flanges 54, 56, bolt 60 forming also the electrical connection between plate 46 and conductive cabinet 12. Casing 52 extends beyond block 42 to form a socket to receive a cable (Fig. 4, not shown) - Pins 40 are gripped and properly located in their bores by bulbous portions 102 on clips 100 and by abutting shoulders on the pins and bores.
